Since the contract is signed, I can let you in on a little secret. THREE of my crochet designs are going to be published…in books! It still seems a little surreal and I hope that I haven’t underestimated the amount of work on my plate, but I am really, really, really excited about it!
I suppose that this is one of the little silver linings from being unemployed from my day job for 11 months, since I would not have submitted my designs otherwise.
I can’t reveal the full design sketches or the finished samples (when they are done), but I can give you a little preview.
First, the one that is due in October. It is a girl’s wrap sweater that uses a flower motif, double crochet and a lacey stitch pattern. The yarn is the Celeste base from Space Cadet Creations. The color will be different that what is shown. I had some Space Cadet in my stash from visiting the booth at the Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet festival in February, so I am swatching with the “Stewed Cranberries” color. (I think that is the name, the yarn label is eluding me at the moment…) The final yarn is being dyed for this project and she’s dying some DK weight yarn for project #2 which I will preview soon. It has been a pleasure to crochet with, and I have an idea for a matching hat and mitts set to make out of this yarn…so stay tuned!
The book series will be called Fresh Designs Crochet and will be published by Cooperative Press. There are a number of books in the series. My patterns will be in the Sweaters, Kids and Home books. If you are member of ravelry, you can join the Cooperative Press group to read about upcoming publications and information about the press.
