Have I talked recently about the awesomeness of Ravelry? I feel like I don’t mention it often enough. There are many, many things to love about Ravelry, but since I started down the path to publishing my own knit and crochet designs, the forum boards for designers have been an amazing resource. It’s like having a group of mentors at my fingertips and a meet-up of colleagues all in one.
Several brilliant members of this group suggested that we organize a group promotion and group KAL/CAL for the period leading up to the holidays. Independent designers working as a group to promote each other’s work while also encouraging knitters and crocheters to get started on their holiday crafting asap. The idea was so popular that I was completely unable to keep up with all of the messages posted about it and within days the Gift-a-Long was born!
Summary: From November 1st until November 15th (GMT) all patterns mentioned in the “List of Participating Patterns” thread are 25% off when you use the promo code “giftalong” during checkout. There are over 160 participating designers and I’ve been told that there are over 3000 patterns eligible for the discount.
I am participating in the big event and ALL of my patterns are included. So if you had been thinking about snapping up one of my designs, do it in the next two weeks with the code “giftalong” and you’ll save 25%.
Once you’ve got your Gift-A-Long patterns, (mine or anyone else’s) please join the KAL/CAL thread designated for the kind of project you are making! There are nine different groups for garments, accessories, toys, etc. Participants in the Gift-a-Long are eligible for lots of lovely prizes but you have to participate and/or post finish objects to win!
The festivities will run until December 31st and prizes will be handed out during the next two months in addition to prizes at the end. Plus, if you knit holiday gifts now you will be ready to gift them when the holidays roll around – win, win!
Personally, I haven’t yet had much time to shop the patterns or sign-up for a KAL/CAL…but that is because I’m currently working behind the scenes in the hopes of getting two new patterns out before the promotion is over. If I’m able to stay on schedule, I expect there will be some Gift-a-Long participation in my future. 😉
Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
